Launching Work on 80% of Metro Stations

Engineer Sa’ad Ahmed Al-Muhannadi; CEO of Rail revealed that work has already begun in 20 construction sites, out of the total 25 sites of planned metro stations and emergency exits, This represents about 80% of the total number of stations. He mentioned in a statement issued by the company that these works range from excavation to preparatory foundation construction operations.

Work on passenger, metro and freight trains network, as part of the railway network, will be implemented in parallel phases. The train network will cover a total distance of about 350 kilometers. The expected speed for long distance passenger trains will approximately be between 220 to 350 KPH for passenger trains, and 120 KPH for freight trains.

The metro network will consist of four lines covering a distance of 354 kilometers connecting Doha with all other main cities within the State of Qatar. The expected metro train speed is estimated to be around 80 KPH within cities and 160 KPH for inter-city lines.
